▒ 캐나다 블루스의 여신 Rita Chiarelli에 대하여..

 

캐나다 남동부에 있는 ontario주의 Hamilton에서 태어난 Rita Chiarelli 는
1980년대부터  Ronnie Hawkins 밴드로 활동을 시작했다.

그 뒤에는 이탈리아에서 이곳저곳을 다니며 활동을 하다가 다시 캐나다로 돌아오게 된다.
컴백 후 빠르게 영화감독인 Bruce McDonald 가 관심을 끌며 1989년 영화 "Road Lill"의
Soundtrack 에 "Have You Seen My Shoes?"를 포함시킨다.

이후로도 Bruce McDonald와 작업을 계속하며 싱어송라이터인 Colin Linden,
Bob Dylan이 사운드트랙에 참가한 91년 영화 "Highway 61"의 음악작업에도 참여하며
역량을 쌓던 중 Stony Plain Records에서 데뷔앨범 Road Rockets(1992)을 내게 된다.

그녀의 앨범 Just Getting Started (1995)와 Breakfast at Midnight (2001)는
그녀를 캐나다에서 시상하는 Juno Award 에서 Best Blues Album 에 뽑혔다.

캐나다 방송사의 프로듀서 Shelagh Rogers는 "the goddess of Canadian blues"라는
찬사를 내뿜으면서 명실공히 캐나다 여성 블루스계에서는 여왕이 아닐까 한다.
