▒ Auld lang syne(올드 랭 사인)[석별의 정]에 대하여..
작별(Auld lang syne)은 스코틀랜드 시인인 [로버트 번스]가 1788년 지은 詩에서 비롯되었으며,
영미권에서는 묵은 해를 보내고 새해를 맞으면서 부르는 축가로 쓰인다.
올드 랭 사인은 스코트어로 [오랜 옛날부터( Aold long since)]라는 뜻이다.
영화 [애수/원제:Waterloo Bridge-워털루 다리]의 주제곡으로 쓰였으며, [석별의 정]이라고도 한다.
찬송가로도 자주 불리워지는 이 곡은 석별의 정을 나눌 때 많이 불렀으며, 졸업이나 종강, 그리고
정든이들과 헤어질 때, 친구와 동료, 선후배들이 모여서 울먹이며 같이 부르던 노래다.
안익태 선생님이 지금의 애국가를 작곡하기 전까지는 이 노래에 가사를 붙여 애국가로 부르기도 하였다.
올드 랭 사인은 스코틀랜드 사투리고 직역은 [Old long since]라고 [옛날 옛적에]이다.
원래 가사는 이별의 노래가 아니고, 오랜만에 만난 친구들과 술잔을 나누며 회포를 푸는 내용이었다고 한다.
스코틀랜드 사람들은 민족성이 강하고 고집이 세며, 술을 사랑하고 삶을 즐길 줄 아는 여유를 가진 사람들
이라서 타지에 나가 사는 사람들이 모이면 고향을 잊지 못해 술잔을 나누며 이 노래를 합창했다고 한다.
또한 영화 [애수]에서 세계적인 배우 [로버트 테일러]와 [비비안 리]가
클럽에서 촛불들이 하나씩 꺼지면서 이별의 왈츠를 출 때 잔잔하게 흐르던 곡이다.

"Auld Lang Syne" is a Scots poem written by Robert Burns in 1788
and set to the tune of a traditional folk song .
It is well known in many countries, especially in the English-speaking world;
its traditional use being to celebrate the start of the New Year at the stroke of midnight.
By extension,it is also sung at funerals, graduations
and as a farewell or ending to other occasions.
The international Boy Scout youth movement, in many countries,
uses it as a close to jamborees and other functions.
